All you need is a pair of scissors, 2 matching sets of Valspar paint chips from Lowe's (the ones with the hole in the middle), clear packing tape (optional), hangers, Elmer's Glue stick and your dresses.
First, you need to select the colors you would like represented in your closet. Cut the paint chip if necessary. I chose these because they already have a hole cut in the middle.
After you cut the paint ship turn them over and paste glue on each side, press together firmly. You can also place them inside a heavy book to make sure they are sealed together.
You can reinforce your paint chip with tape or laminate them, but because the paint chip is made out of thick paper and it is double-sided, I skipped this step. Place the paint chip through the hanger.
Line up your hangers in the color-coding system you desire. I chose a rainbow scheme. Red, pink, orange, yellow, green, blue, grey, black, white, and brown.
Because these dividers are double-sided, you can see the color from the left and the right. Make sure all of your hangers are facing the same way and the color dividers are on the same side of the hanger.
Place your clothes behind the coordinating color. Now you will find your party dresses in no time!
Happy Planning!

DeleteWow... crazy how people just start criticizing something like a WORD in your post... c'mon folks, is that really the important thing here or is it the wonderful concept she presented!?
ReplyDeleteI think you're idea is useful, especially if you are trying to update or redo your wardrobe. You can easily identify which colors or shades you lack, as well as the ones you overkill. Thanks for sharing! :)
I love this idea. We are about to move so I'm not rearranging my clothes yet (just to do it again in 3 weeks) but I was so excited about this that I went ahead and got my props ready. Went to Home Depot this weekend (closer to my house) and go the Martha Stewart paint samples because they are nice and long - substantial size. I glued them back to back like you did, then I used my paper cutter to slice off the letters (color name) because I knew those would distract me. Then I used my heart shaped paper punch to make a hole for hanging. I did it tilted so they will hang from one side of the top of the heart and still hang straight. I can't wait to put them to use in my new closet! Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteHi Camilla! Thanks for stopping buy. I love the idea of using a heart shaped paper punch! That is really creative. I would love to see the end product. Send me a few pics via email. Take care! Jenny
